We at the JMDI were saddened to learn of the sudden death of Janet Buerki Narh in London on 20th June. A British national of Ghanaian origin, Janet believed strongly in social justice, and through her position as a professional radio and television broadcaster she used her extensive experience and strong ties in the African community to educate and inspire African diaspora members to work for the human rights of those in their countries of origin, particularly women.

The Joint Migration and Development Initiative were grateful for Janet’s contribution to the ‘Knowledge Fair’, held in Brussels in December 2008, where she shared her personal experiences and brought her unique style and energy to the Fair.  Her presentation may be downloaded here, and her video contribution may be viewed here.  Our sincere condolences go to her family.
